The Call Of The Grizzly

The Bard of Beer's Grizzly song for 1999, to the tune of John Brown's Body.

We dared to see the entry form
We sighed and filled it in.
And we cursed the Race director
When we toasted Kith and Kin.
And we kissed and cried to loved ones
As we left for Seaton Shore,
"The Grizzly Calls once more."

Glory, Glory run the Grizzly
Glory, Glory run the Grizzly
Glory, Glory run the Grizzly
The Grizzly calls once more.

No pain or ills or darkened sides
To keep us from our Quest,
And we ask no more than kindness
At our final place of rest.
We know that at the very end
That whispers above the pain,
Is the Grizzly Call again.

Glory, Glory run the Grizzly
Glory, Glory run the Grizzly
Glory, Glory run the Grizzly
The Grizzly calls once more.

When the race is done, the spirit low,
There's pain and brave hearts bleed.
Whispering voices call you on,
"Come follow me," they plead.
"You've climbed that Wall and found yourself ,
You're ready to open the door,
The Grizzly calls once more."

Glory, Glory run the Grizzly
Glory, Glory run the Grizzly
Glory, Glory run the Grizzly
The Grizzly calls once more.
