Somerset Coast Challenge -Marathon & 100k

Channel Events are proud and excited to be working in partnership with the Somerset & Exmoor Coast Festival to bring you the brand new Somerset Coast Challenge!
This fantastic trail running event will kick off the Somerset & Exmoor Coast Festival on the 21st September 2024.
Love long distance trail running and the coast?
Then you’ll love this. 100km or marathon distance options along the beautiful Somerset Coast.
The 100km option will start at the Hands Monument in Minehead after registering at The Adventure Centre and the marathon distance will start at Bridgwater Docks. Both distances will finish at the National Trust’s Brean Down Cafe after completing a lap of Brean Down. The event wouldn’t be complete without visiting iconic landmarks at the start and finish.
The event will be ‘self-navigated’, you’ll will be keeping the sea to your left through your journey and following the King Charles III Coast Path way markers. To assist you we will supply via downloads a route description, route maps and a GPX file.
This beautiful route will take you along the coast passing through many wonderful locations such as; Blue Anchor, Watchet, West Quantockshead waterfall, Kilve beach, Lilstock, Steart Marshes, Bridgwater Docks, Burnham on Sea and Brean Down.
There will be aid stations/checkpoints every 8-10 miles to keep you sustained but we strongly advise that you are always carrying plenty of food and fluids to keep you sustained and hydrated throughout the adventure.
The initial response to this new event via social media has been overwhelming and we hope this transfers into fantastic entry numbers and over time make this a ‘Must do’ ultra/marathon.
We’re looking forward to your entries coming in once they open in early March 2024 and can’t wait to see you all gracing the start lines and crossing the finish line.
